Chapter News

2016 is a fast moving year indeed, with Convention, Leadership Day, and then the Education Season coming quickly. NCSA chapters are moving quickly also with chapter elections, great meetings with information and fellowship. Have you attend-ed your local chapter lately? Are you curious about what happens at our chapter meetings? Take time out to attend this month! For now, read on to see what has been happening across our state.

Burlington

The Burlington Chapter met Tuesday May 24 for a dinner meeting at Kimbers Restaurant in Gibsonville. The meeting was a roundtable discussion of various member issues. Cape Fear

The Cape Fear met on Monday May 16th at the Brass Lantern in Dunn with James Upton giving an After Season Roundup of Tax Issues presentation. The next meeting will be held June 20th with location to be announced. In other news Cheryl Hudson and Merry Arnett announced their resignations from chapter offices and the chapter is actively seeking volunteers. Central

The chapter met on Monday May 23rd at Sagebrush at 6pm with James Upton giving an After Season Roundup of Tax Issues presentation. Topics covered included Hobby Losses, Additional Tax Credit for LLC Annual Report Fee paid by NC S-Corps, UPE-Unreimbursed Partner Expenses, and when to obtain a new EIN. The next meeting will feature David Hooker speaking on Engagement Letters. Central Chapter meets on the 4th Mon-day of each month. For more information contact Kevin Robinson at kevrob@triad.rr.com

Charlotte

The Charlotte Chapter met at Captain Steve’s on Tuesday May 24th. The chapter meeting scheduled was to include a presentation by David Hooker, but due to a low number responding and David’s long travel time that meeting will be rescheduled. Eastern

The Eastern Chapter met on May 24th at H&R Block in Greenville. Ron Powell spoke on Surviving an IRS Audit. The Eastern chapter meets on the 4th Tuesday each month at H&R Block in Greenville. For more information contact Karen Spruill at karen.spruill@hrblock.com

Hickory

The Hickory Chapter met on Wednesday May 25th at Abingdon Glen Village. Jim Holmes was on hand to speak on NC Probate and Simple Estate Administration. Upcoming: The Hickory Chapter will be planning their annual cookout at Lake Hickory soon; details will be announced. The Hickory Chapter normally meets the last Monday of each month. Piedmont

The Piedmont Chapter held its annual Scholarship Fundraiser and Cookout at 4th of July Park in Kernersville on Thursday May 26th. The Pied-mont Chapter has a history of supporting the NCSA Scholarship Foundation, especially in memory of Steve Pace. Piedmont Chapter normally meets on the last Thursday of each month. Raleigh

The Raleigh Chapter met on Tuesday May 24th at Manchesters. Larry Grossman continued his 1040 Line by Line Series as well as addressed the chapter on recruiting new members and presented a recruiting plan to achieve results. Sandhills-Sanford

The Sandhills-Sanford Chapter met Thursday May 26th at Valenti’s Italian in Vass. Gary Briggs with Moore County Tax Department spoke on Business Personal Property Tax Listings. Western

Wilmington
